Veterinary Training Project

RVT Training Program

CAMP’s Veterinary Training Project (VTP) course “High-Quality High-Volume Spay and Neuter RVT Training Program” is a CE-Accredited 2-day course working directly with our Instructor RVTs and Veterinarian Surgeon. Training takes place at CAMP’s clinics located in Los Angeles, CA and will offer 16.5 hours of combined interactive and non-interactive training. RVTs will gain hands-on experience in induction, surgery prep, anesthesia, and recovery in a high-volume setting, emphasizing a high-quality environment for our patients.

RVT Training Course

Program Goals
  • To introduce Registered Veterinary Technicians to the principles and methods of HQHVSN.

  • To provide Registered Veterinary Technicians the opportunity to practice hands-on HQHVSN clinical techniques one-on-one with our experienced staff.

  • To encourage our veterinary community to seek out professional opportunities in HQHVSN surgery, non-profit veterinary wellness, animal shelter medicine and animal welfare.

Veterinarian Training Requirements
  • California Registered Veterinary Technician license (in good standing)

  • Interest in HQHVSN surgery and non-profit community medicine is strongly encouraged

  • Pay program fee - Please inquire if financial aid is needed. Assistance with tuition and travel is available!

Program Schedule
  • The RVT trainee will be scheduled for two 8-hour surgery days with direct supervision and assistance provided as needed. 30 minutes of non-interactive home study materials will be provided prior to in-person training in forms of articles, journals, dosing guidelines, anesthesia and pharmacology review, and surgical procedures review. A post-exam will be administered in the form of 10 multiple-choice questions and must pass with an 80%.

  • Please complete the application linked below and make sure to give specific days of the week you are available and will commit for training. We are willing to work with trainees to provide a recurring weekly surgery day or consecutive weekdays. The training program does not operate on Sundays, Mondays or Tuesdays.

CE Credit and Fees

The CAMP Veterinary Training Project’s course “High-Quality High-Volume Spay Neuter RVT Training Program” consists of a 2-day block of training sessions working one-on-one with our instructors and earns up to 16.5 hours of approved AAVSB RACE CE for a fee of $500. *Please inquire if financial aid is needed. California grants are available for vets working or interested in working for the non-profit sector!

Please submit an application and a member of our team will get right back to you. Please do not pay the fee until your training dates are confirmed.

PLEASE NOTE - There are no refunds once you start the course and we will work to make sure all trainees complete the initial 2 training sessions.  Any cancellation of a training session less than 7 days in advance will incur a $50 rescheduling fee; training sessions cancelled more than a week away will not incur a rescheduling fee.  Please, try not to cancel sessions since we book far in advance and spots are very limited.
